How Many Images Can You Upload to One Facebook Ad?
A quick, direct answer plus the details that actually matter once you start building multi-asset ads in Meta Ads Manager.
The short answer
You can upload up to 10 images and videos to a single ad in Meta Ads Manager's creative setup wizard. On top of that, each individual creative can have up to 10 variants (different aspect ratios of the same image), and those grouped variants don't count against your main 10-creative limit.
Breaking that down
10 creatives per ad — this is your hard cap on distinct pieces of media (unique images/videos).
10 variants per creative — if some of those 10 creatives are the same image in different ratios (e.g., 1:1, 4:5, 9:16), they can be grouped as variants of one creative without using up another one of your 10 slots.
In practice, this means you have a lot of room to give Meta multiple creative options and multiple aspect ratios of each, without running into the ceiling.
Does this apply to every ad format?
This 10-image/video limit applies specifically to the standard ad with the newer creative workflow (single ad, multiple media assets, Meta tests and delivers the best performer). It does not describe:
Carousel ads — which have their own card limit and are meant for a sequenced, swipeable set of images
Collection ads — which use a different structure combining a cover asset with a product catalog
If you're trying to build a swipeable sequence of images rather than give Meta multiple options to test, you want a Carousel ad, not multi-asset upload.
Why upload more than one image if you only need one?
Uploading multiple images/videos to a single ad lets Meta's delivery system test which creative performs best with your audience and automatically shift spend toward the top performer — without you having to create and manage separate ads.
Quick reference table
Limit | Value
Creatives per ad | 10
Variants per creative | 10
Do grouped variants count toward the 10-creative cap? | No
Bottom line
Ten creatives, ten variants each — that's the ceiling. For most advertisers, that's more than enough room to cover multiple concepts and every placement ratio in a single ad.
