New Metric Alert: What Is "Estimated Spend" in Meta Ads Manager?

1 min read

Meta Ads Manager has introduced a new metric called Estimated Spend, designed to give advertisers a forward-looking view of budget rather than just a historical one.

What it shows

Estimated Spend shows the average daily spend Meta projects for your campaign if it continues delivering at your chosen cost-per-result goal. The projection is based on a model built from the last two days of performance data across similar campaigns, not just your own account's history.

How it's different from other spend metrics

Most of the spend figures in Ads Manager, like Amount Spent, look backward: they tell you what has already been billed. Estimated Spend instead tries to answer a forward-looking question: if current auction conditions and your targets hold steady, roughly how much will you spend per day going forward?

How to use it

  • Sanity-check your daily budget against the estimate before scaling a campaign up.

  • Use it as an early warning sign: if the estimate is drifting well above your intended daily budget, your cost-per-result goal may be unrealistic for current auction conditions.

  • Remember it's a model based on similar campaigns, not a guarantee, so treat it as a planning input rather than a forecast you can rely on precisely.

As with any new Meta metric, it's worth watching how closely the estimate tracks your actual spend over the first few weeks before leaning on it heavily for budget decisions.
