Setting Up Per-Ad Audience Targeting: A Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Ready to try Meta's new per-ad audience targeting? Here's exactly where to find it and how to set it up.
Step by step
Open Ads Manager and go to the ad set level of the campaign you want to update.
Under audience settings, choose the traditional targeting option rather than Advantage+ Audience.
Click "Further limit your audience" to expand the detailed targeting options.
Look for the new toggle: "Choose an audience for each creative," and switch it on.
Move to the ad level and open an existing ad, or create a new one.
Just below the media selection area, you'll see a new "Audience" section.
Set the age range and gender for that specific ad creative.
Repeat for each ad inside the ad set that needs its own audience targeting.
A few practical tips
Only enable the ad set-level toggle if you actually plan to use per-ad targeting on multiple creatives. Turning it on without using it adds complexity for no benefit.
Document which audience you assigned to each ad creative outside of Ads Manager too, so your reporting is easy to interpret later.
Check delivery breakdowns by age and gender a few days after launch to confirm the feature is behaving the way you expected.
It's a small setup process for a feature that can meaningfully simplify how you structure creative and audience tests going forward.
