You Can Now Control What AI Agents Are Allowed to Do in Your Meta Ad Account

If you've connected third-party AI agents to your ad accounts through the Ads MCP server, Meta Business Suite now gives you granular control over exactly which actions those agents are allowed to take.

What the Ads MCP server actually is

The Ads MCP server is the connection point that lets external AI agents interact with your ad accounts and catalogs, whether that's for reporting, optimization suggestions, or direct campaign management. Until now, once an agent was connected, there wasn't a simple, centralized way to define what it could and couldn't do inside your account.

What you can now control

  • Take actions in your ad account: turning this off lets connected agents still view your data, but blocks them from taking any actions at all.

  • Edit or set daily and lifetime budgets, within Meta's applicable limits.

  • Create campaigns, ad sets, and ads. Anything newly created through an agent defaults to "off" status until you manually turn it on.

  • Edit audience targeting.

  • Edit creative, including media, primary text, headline, and call to action.

  • Edit the status of campaigns, ad sets, and ads.

Where to find it

Open Meta Business Suite settings, click "Integrations" in the left panel, then select "Ads MCP server." All available actions are listed there and can be toggled individually.

The default setting to know about

Every one of these options defaults to enabled the moment an agent connects. That means an AI agent can, by default, touch budgets, campaign status, targeting, and creative unless you go in and turn things off yourself. It's worth checking these settings the same day you connect any new agent, not after the fact.
